The Mission of Operation Wounded Minds (OWM) is to remove the shame and stigma from Post Traumatic Stress (PTS, also known as PTSD) so that individuals will be more inclined to seek treatment and society will be more supportive.
Our role is to:
- Give a voice and a face to victims of PTS
We will accomplish this goal through sharing the stories of victims in many forms, including films such as Acronym and other forms of expression. In addition to creating awareness and empathy for victims, sharing stories can be a powerful, cathartic form of healing.
- Help communities build a support system for victims of PTS
Operation Wounded Minds is proud to be an early adopter of a breakthrough community building and financial support tool for victims known as VillageUp [LINK]. VillageUp combines the power of person-to-person payments with social networking capabilities to serve as a powerful force for positive change.
- Advocate for resources for victims of PTS
While PTS is a national issue, its impacts are most keenly felt at the local level. For this reason, we are seeking to make the case for support directly to each of the nation’s 435 Congressional Districts to advocate for the specific needs in congressional representatives’ own communities.
- Financially assist partners that help heal the victims of PTS
Operation Wounded Minds will convene, places of business and community banks, places of health and places of faith to create a comprehensive network of local support for returning warriors and victims of PTS. Financial activity on behalf of victims through Operation Wounded Minds’ VillageUp application will yield cash givebacks to local non-profits to pay for the victim support initiatives they enable. The App is a behavior modification tool focused on health, well living and mindfulness practices for transitioning At Risk Warriors home from war.
